These two images are the first steps I took when designing ol' Skull Head. The image on the left is a page of silhouettes. The image on the right is a page of thumbnails.
Here are six different costume designs I was playing around with for the character. The "buff" design was actually a sketch I did way before I designed this character so I guess you could say that should be the "original" costume.

This is the final design for Skull Head along with a broadcast made for comic book production. After playing with the above costume designs I decided to stick with the "original" but implement some tiny elements from the others.
These color concepts were colored digitally but they were inked traditionally. My first color concept reminded me too much of something you would see in a Saturday morning cartoon. The second I find much more gritty and appealing for the character.

Here's Skull Head in an action pose. I colored it digitally with Photoshop. Probably one of my favorite pieces.
